Amy and Dennis Heidner are both Engineers that run the Rextor Group.  Years of experience working for Boeing and other regional companies.   Volunteer, Board Member, judge for science fair projects at the state, national and international levels.

Sergeant First Class Hopper came to talk with the students about opportunities with the National Guard.  No matter what your after high school plans are, the  National Guard allows you the opportunity to serve as well as continue living your life.  Also a great opportunity to fund your post high school aspirations. 

Ms. McCulloch held a Zoom call with the Aerospace Engineering class to promote the Nasa TechRise Challenge.  Students designed a project that can be either tested on a high altitude hot air balloon or in a simulated mars rover.  Students will hear if they placed on Jan 23rd.  Winners get $1500 to build out their actual project.

I always love this trip.  Students get to experience advance manufacturing at Altek.  On one side they do injection molding, similar materials to our own 3D printing.  On the other side they do CNC milling of aircraft grade aluminum.  This year we have our own Benchmill 6100 CNC mill to learn some of these same skills.  Wagstaff is such a large operation of production.  So many jobs that provide livable wages and a company culture that is top notch.

Ms. Sabanovic is a 2019 graduate of Ferris High School.  She is now attending University of Washington in Infomatics.  She stopped by to share this program and ways that it might appeal to students in my AP Computer Science Principles class.  Students asked some great questions and it opened the idea to something new.

Petty Officer Giles spent the day sharing with students about the opportunities that the Navy provides.  Giles covered all of the benefits as well as the trainings the Navy will provide students as part of their commitment.

Above are some of the tools we purchased with a gift card from Harbor Freight.   I'm always amazed when a high school student has never used a screwdriver or a hammer to create something.  We used these tools as part of our reverse engineering piano project.
